Here's something Red Leader, Bluebolt, GTIBoy66 and some other may like...

This past Friday I drove down to happy valley and looked at this Jointer. It needs a little more TLC, e.g., the blades sharpened, a upper new pulley and the motor straightened to make the belt straight. Other than that it's nearly complete, except for the belt guard.

The base is what really got me excited. I'm a sucker for vintage machine bases. I doubt that I'm the only one.

I paid his asking price, $60. :rocker:

Anywho, here's the machine.

I've got a few more pics I'll post up in a little bit.

I have the same jointer and base and I love the thing. Have not put it together yet - it was a late 2011 summer find and have other projects ahead of it. As I am sure you have figured out the jointer without the base weighs about 180 lbs - the thing is a monster. I weigh 165 and it was all I could do to move it.

As you might already know you can see photos of this jointer that others have bought (some restores) over at owwm.com. Check the ID tag at the back but yours should be a 23900. If you do not already have it you can download a pdf of the owner's manual here:

And here is a sheet on the stand:

I've got the same base, with a similar if not the same Jointer. Picked it up in pieces last summer, and it's currently in de-rusting limbo, (I need to set up an electrolysis grid in a long tub I finally managed to find to fit the big pieces)

Very nice find!

Whoa, I must be jacked. I carried it in and out of truck no problem. I assume it's more like 180# all together. I read some selling info on it saying the machine was 120# without the motor or stand.

Who knows, though. Maybe I'm stronger than I thought, hahaha.

Oh, and thanks for the links. Looks like helpful stuff.

I have the 1963 version, unfortunately my base had a whole corner cracked off and missing. Shipping weight on the base was 77 pounds, jointer 123 pounds and motor 22 pounds.
