need a 1" impact

I did a search but after 4 pages of discussions on every type of impact wrench but 1" I could use your help. what I need is a decent 1" gun with an extended anvil for changing tires on my trucks, I have an IR at the farm shop but have put together a mobile tool trailer for my Fedex trucks and would rather not keep the one from the shop in there its just to much hassle to transfer back and forth. I like the IR fine and could buy another but wondered what you guys like.

ir 260-6 is the best one,they make the newer ones with the comfort grip(ergonomic) handles,which are ok,but i dont like them.

i have a ir 260 i rebuilt from 3 diffrent guns which i use every day.light weight and comfortable.our shop has a cp 797 which is idiot proof,heavy as all getout,but will withstand a lit of abuse.

run it from a large c bottle full of nitrogen at 220..you won`t have any problems..last forever..breakem with the impact and them spin em off with an 18 volt snap on ...git r dun..

thanks for the help, another thing I just thought of is I still have our old 1" gun I think it is an old IR but am not sure the only markings left on the gun is the serial # my tire guy said he could get it rebuilt for me but when he took it to the shop they use they just laughed and said it was to old probably from the 60's or so anyone know of somewhere I could get a rebuild kit for it and is it something I could do myself or do you need special hones and such.

The torque spec for most heavy truck wheels is 300-500 ft-lbs, but it is pretty common practice to run the lugs down full bore with a 3/4" or 1" impact. That does not make it right but that's how its usually done on heavy trucks even in dealerships and fleet shops.

I recently purchased the snap on IM1800L and love it.. lightweight very compact would be perfect on a service truck.. if you have the air i would just go with a MG1200 3/4 Snap on gun they get lug nuts more than tight enough.. just my $.02

You don't have to buy any flashy 1" impacts. Most cheaper brands have more than enough torque to spin off the most stubborn wheel nuts.

At work there's a CP 1" (dont rember the model #) that is used for truck lug nuts along with a torque stick rated for I *think* 500 ft lbs.

yeah at work we torque the lugnuts on 6500 kodiak (26 foot uhaul trucks) to 350 ft lbs and i just use my ir2135ti 1\2 it spins em off everytime but im not sure about bigger trucks

at the bus garage - the 3/4 could not take it on the big buses
we blew up the 3/4
we had an old chicago 1 in as a shop tool , very very heavy , we bought the chainsaw grip IR - lighweight and worked great
the problem with big truks is not tightening them , it is breaking them loose , then the rust that builds up on the studs
3/4 drive peters out - you need the 1 inch !

IR or CP both of them will work really well although I have seen our IR 1" gun not have enough balls and so it was time for the hot wrench.

I have two IR's,one of the older ones,285-6,and one of the new titanium chainsaw grip 2190ti-6's.Much nicer to use,lighter and more ergonomic,more power.I had a cheap one from princess auto,about $250,that worked excellent.If your only servicing a couple trucks it's something you should look at.Cheap and reliable and has one of the best warranties out there.I've seen guys bring air tools back to princess after being abused for years and exchange them.

2190ti-6 for me. I love it. When the 3/4" stuff can not make it happen the 2190 never fails.

I missed a used one, a CP at a resale shop for 100$, still kick myself over it. I have used them way bigger than 1 inch too. Took 2 of us to lift the gun.
