If you're going to marry a cordless tool family pick the one that offers the most tools that you will use. What really would **** is to have 3 different tool families, with different batteries and chargers. In my opinion free battery replacement is secondary to that, for the huge reduction in clutter it allows.
Also keep in mind, IIRC, only the Ridgid batteries bought in sets are guaranteed for life. Meaning, the spare batteries bought separately wouldn't carry a LSA.
I went with Ridgid because of the deal I got on the drill/driver combo + two batteries + LSA and the quality of the tool was MUCH above Ryobi. Above that the prices really start to jump and you're stuck buying new batteries as well. What I plan on doing is picking up the limited use Ridgid tools used (such as the 7-1/4 circular saw) used. Also I found a Ryobi battery drawn in CAD and plan to have it 3D printed and graph a Ridgid battery to the bottom of it, to purchase Ryobi tools like their string trimmer for use with the Ridgid battery.
I want ONE battery and charger and tools able to use them, none of this charger musical chair stuff that some people play. I don't have the room for the clutter.
