Need a 2 1/2 morse taper drill press chuck.

Hey all,

I am in the middle of cleaning up the old drill press at the shop. It is at least 20-25 years old. I am trying to find a new chuck for it. The side of the taper shaft that secures it to the drill press has 2 1/2MT on it. I assume it is the taper of the shaft.

Where do you go to buy a new drill press chuck?

If you don't need it right now then i would reccomend going to estate or farm sales. Old high quality chucks came usually be had at huge discounts over new.

Something isn't right. There's no such thing as a 2-1/2 Morse Taper.

Are you sure it isn't a 2-1/2 Jacobs taper?

I don't think it's really a 2 1/2 MT. It's a No. 2 MT with 1/2"-20 UNF threads.

I was very confused because of the 1/2 but I bet it would be a #2 morse followed by the 1/2 threads.
