Over the years, GJ members have been of great assistance in the past helping me identify various tools, etc. I'm hoping members can help with this..

Need to replace a nine terminal switch for a reversing carrier that goes forward and backward. Pictures are of current switch with is intermittently working . Switch is spring loaded momentary on both directions with off in the middle. Motor is A/C. I've been to Grainger, City Electric and several other places. I've searched the internet to now avail but then again I don't pretend to be an electrical guru and I don't know it could be referred to as something else. Trying to find a direct replacement as I don't know control wiring. Numbers on switch and base plate are from original manufacturer of assembly (no longer in business) from 30 years ago. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

You can build up your own switch with a 3 position selector switch body and terminal blocks.
The operator (switch body) that you want is 3 position, left maintained, center maintained & right spring return to center.

Terminal blocks can be any combination of normally open and normally closed.
For the terminal blocks, you will need to understand what is switched in each position.

Try automationdirect and look under push button operators.

I've contacted a DigiKey rep and they aren't interested in a selling a single switch (I understand). I could justify buying one or two spares but that's still too small of an order. There are a couple of different manufacturer's who show them on websites but again I can't find any supplier/distributor that handles them in single orders. I've tried two different ones from Amazon that were described (Amazon's descriptions are often lacking pertinent info and there's no way to get a reliable answer to questions) as momentary but were not.

As mentioned I don't possess the skills to create a workaround and want to keep it in the original panel setup.

This will be in a situation where it can be used by the public so it needs to be as simple and reliable as possible

The info on using parenthesis in a search is the type of info I'm needing. I did find one on Amazon, contacted the seller and they assure me that it was (on)-off-(on) so that one's on the way. Hopefully that will work. Still I'd love to have additional resources.

Thanks again for the help.

Huh?

Just checkout online...

What pn?
I can't speak for this item, but some suppliers like Digi-Key, Mouser, MCM, Newark, etc. list some items as "factory shipped, in stock quantity 0" A quantity purchase is required for some of those. Look for an alternate or substitute part number in stock.

It might show up like this:

I'm well aware of how these companies work, I spend a significant amount with them annually.

If the OP supplied the PN, I'd help him out. There's probably other places to buy it too...

OP, hopefully the switch you bought will work.

One other option is to fix the switch. If you bend up the tabs on one side the top should lever out. Then you can clean the contacts with emery paper or alcohol depending on how bad they are.

Sanding switch contacts is not going to work well long term...

It depends completely on the switch material. If it’s pure copper then no problem. If it’s plated then it could be a problem - which is why I suggested alcohol first. Right now the switch is bad, so it’s not like there is any risk…

Op can't even figure out how to order one from digikey. I don't think fixing one is in the cards.

I’m sorry. For some reason I thought this was a DIY forum. My mistake.

The OP bought a replacement switch which is why I expect he’s out…
