I spotted several of these at the local county surplus store last week:

to give you a sense of scale, it's sitting on a full sized pallet, and those are 2x4's in the foreground. 125 hp would make one hell of a buffer...

Based on the four wires that motor is 3-phase; and based on the blue color of the shaft I expect it has been run hard and put away wet.

Do you think it would work to replace the motor in my wife's hair dryer. LOL, would probably just blow her head off.

That's a small motor. Well actually it's large for only 125hp.
I work on 1200hp motors all the time that aren't much physically larger. They just need lots of juice, lol.
