Hey guys, I'm looking to add some of the larger wrenches to my collection. I need a brand recommendation. With bigger sizes like 24 to 32mm, does it really matter if I don't get the truck brands and end up getting craftsman? Or are the better brands that much better? Thanks.

I would look on Ebay for K-D full polished Combination wrenches in the larger metric sizes. They usualy go fairly cheap. They are a quality US made wrench that will serve you well. Most of the wrenches came out of Government sets or are sold as closeouts since the KD mechanics hand tool closed up shop a couple of years ago. I wouldn't worry about warranty. They're well made and shouldn't fail through normal use.

Fedwrench, thanks thats what I just did. Needed some large mm combo wrench's. Got this K-D polished set, 9 to 32mm some skips, 18 pcs. $124.50 shipped with PP discount = $6.92 @ wrench. Thats getting down close to HF price I think maybe. K-D USA stamped wrench's in near new condition they look. The top eight will go into the work box and the small 10 wrench's go to the house box to beef up the raised panels I got.

Where are you finding these larger metric nuts/bolts/fittings, that are loose enough to remove with a combo wrench?

Sometimes you just need to hit a nut with a big enough wrench to get them to shut up :).

That 2-9/16" wrench is a riot, 30" long! And I bet you'd need four guys to make it worth trying. Isn't there a law against designing spots where you can't get an impact socket over a nut that big? Sounds like cruel and unusual punishment to the mechanic. Not that engineers aren't recruited from facilities for the criminally insane...

I still haven't heard any mention of applications where people are using them....

I used to use a wright 4-1/2 or something there abouts. Never knew the exact size, it was used enough the size markings wore off. It was only used for one specific set of nuts/bolts, but they had to be retorqued daily. Even then, it wasn't nearly long enough to apply sufficient torque to, so it was used as a backup wrench while the nut got impacted down as much as the IR-TI 1" would deliver for 15 seconds. (not nearly enough)
