Hello fellow garage-heads,
I'm collecting a few samples of different types of tile flooring and have a Racedeck sample on the way, as well as one from FloorJunkies.com. Since Costco doesn't sell the Motofloor as individual tiles I was wondering if anyone had ONE extra tile they'd be willing to sell me and pop in the mail to me. I know it's supposed to be the same as Racedeck, but I want to hold it in my own hands before I commit to it. I'll pay the cost of the tile, plus shipping and for your trouble. Please drop me a PM if you can help.

Thanks!
Kevin

try the Bigfoot tiles, both open and solid. Very nice. And the cost/sf is less than $2.00. That's cheaper than the motofloor. That's what I'm going with... eventually. They'll sell you single tiles too.

you should compare, I did and I found them to be much lesser quality and the two samples I got did not match in color.

Spider- is the racedeck tile and the moto floor tile completely the same as regards the thickness, etc, ? Is the only difference the diamond pattern? Thanks for any help regarding these tiles.

I don't know yet. I haven't got my racedeck sample yet, and still haven't found anyone with an extra motofloor tile they're willing to send me.

I got my Floorjunkies sample yesterday. My first impression is that I'm not all that impressed with it, although it would probably work fine in most situations. It will be interesting to compare it to the Racedeck.

Update - got the Racedeck sample yesterday. Compared to the FloorJunkies tile, it's like night and day. The FloorJunkies tile is just not comparable in quality at all. Of course there's a pretty large price difference as well, so no big surprise there. Hopefully the bigfoot tile will show up soon, and someone from the forum is sending me a piece of a Motofloor tile.

Ok, I have the Costco Motofloor samples now (thanks froggert!) and can render an opinion on how they compare to the Racedeck. They are definitely made by the same company, and can be interlocked with each other. I measured with a digital caliper and the height of the motofloor tile is 11mm, while the RaceDeck is 12.5mm. The surface of the Racedeck is more attractive and has a more prounounced diamond-plate texture, but the MotoFloor looks decent. The Racedeck tile is slightly stiffer than the MotoFloor, but not a whole lot. Given the ~$1.89 per tile cost of the Motofloor (when it's on sale), and the $2.85 per tile I was quoted for the Racedeck by a dealer, I think the Motofloor is the winner, but if I were not on as tight a budget the Racedeck would be worth the extra money.

The Bigfoot tile looks to be a decent value, too, and is available in more colors than the Motofloor. It's thinner than the Motofloor, not quite as attractive, and the locking tabs are not as beefy, but it's definitely not junk. I think it's also made overseas, while both Racedeck and Motofloor are made in the USA, which does influence my buying decision somewhat.

I would call Race Deck, I am sure they would give you samples of both theirs and the Costco's and they give samples for free. I agree with JSKCO on going with 1/2" thick.
