need a garage door

I'm looking for a new garage door. The existing door is 16' x 7". My 2 car garage is connected to the house, so I want a insulated door w/ a finish on the inside. It will have torsion springs & I'm thinking about using nylon rollers for noise. The door faces the front of the house so I want a nice looking door.
The door faces north but I was thinking of a row of windows on the top (is this a security issue?). Antbody know a good site w/ pictures? How about the doors at Lowes, Home Depot or Menards?
Thanks,
Matt

I had a 16x7 door from Menards(Ideal Door) at my old place. Bought the high end model, insulated, steel wrapped inside and out. I was very satisfied with the door, the only thing I had a problem with was the delivery time which took a few weeks at the time, not sure what the deal was on that, other than our local store tends not to keep the higher end stuff in stock.

I recently had a couple doors installed by Overhead Door Company as the result of storm damage, the doors installed are very nice quality.

Check with the door companies for prices on installed vs DIY install, you may be surprised at how cheaply they install them. Installing a garage is a PIA, for $1-200 I'd let them do it.

I also would like to recommend Overhead Door Company. They have a variety of products and the local branch that I worked with was 100% terrific to deal with.

I agree with finding a local installer and purchasing the door through them installed. The price is about the same as buying and installing yourself and they back up their installation. It was recommended to me to stay away from the nylon wheels and stick with the steel ones because they would last longer. Contact a few door companies in your area, prices vary a large amount, some of the bids I got were almost twice the price of the lowest.
I went with a small 2 person company that does all their own installs, the larger companies pay by the piece to install and you may or may not get as good of quality on the install.

I too would suggest a door company.....considering how long it would take you to install vs how much you would save.....pay someone else to do it.....and they haul off the old one for you.

I might want to take excpetion with the nylon wheel issue....I put on nylon wheels....NO issues at all and they are a LOT quieter.....

I asked about them too because I had a door about 15 years ago with nylon wheels which were ****. They admitted that they used to have problems but the new ones are really good. We'll see, I've got 3 doors with them now.

The thing with the nylon rollers is to get the ones that actually have ball bearings. Some are bearingless and are pure junk!

Just got the premium insulated doors from Menards. They seem nice.
