I need a good jig saw, I'd like to find one made in the USA or Europe if possible. I am only interested in a corded model.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I was checking out the models they had at the local Home Depot Superstore, and I picked up the Ridgid Fuego, which felt awesome. I'd never felt a barrel grip jig saw before. So while the quality is probably lacking on that particular model, I did see that the Festool jig saw has similar features but is much higher quality, and isn't too outrageously expensive, even for Festool. I'd scope them out if I was going to buy another.

Bosch 1590VS.

I don't know what the difference is, but I have the Bosch 1590evsk -- it's by far the best jig saw I have ever used... and from someone who has used the Festool Trion! To be quite honest with you I know Festool has a big following, but I've never been really impressed with their construction, none of it appears to me like it would take as much abuse.

I have the Bosch too and absolutely love it. Very smooth cutting, I think due to its weight. I'm not crazy about the blade keeper and method of changing, but it does work. Too much plastic involved, but so far it hasn't broken. Using it is pure joy though. :)

The Bosch is a fantastic saw. I have the 1590, but would have preferred the barrel grip 1591. These models have been superseded by even better saws.

Unless you're spending ridiculous dough on a Festool Carvex, you won't find anything better.

I've had three in my life. The Bosch will be the last one. It's really an awesome little tool.

Get a Porter Cable 7549. It has one of the best blade guides ever put on a jig saw. The blade will not roll under when cutting a curve like the cheap saws. The only downside is that the base does not swivel to allow cutting a bevel.

You could get a Mafell P1cc for $700 if you want to spend that kind of money. They're German made and there is one US dealer. You can watch this guy talk about it

I have a Bosch barrel grip and it's a very good saw, at its price point it's the saw for me.

I've got two older Craftsman models, one with the head that turns (not sure the official name for that feature). I like it though. But I'll have to check out a bosch sometime. You've got me interested now.

And that it doesn't have a tool-free blade clamp, and it is 10 years old and no longer supported by Porter Cable. I've given up on anything Porter Cable.

My Bosch 1590EVS is about perfect. Made in Switzerland, but I've had it for years.

We have used the Bosch 1590 for years at my shop. They are no longer made and both of ours are showing their age. I ordered a new one from Mcmaster and it was another model.
It was still a Bosch but I was completely disappointed with it. The blade does not stay in the guide and it is very difficult to cut metal with it. We make cutouts for electrical instruments and they must be very straight and accurate. I was able to find another Swiss built 1590 on line two years ago but it is time to find another good saw. I am on vacation this week so I can not post the model number of the new saw.

If that model Bosch is not available, get the newest version. I started buying Bosch jigsaws over 25 years ago, and they are the best.

Bosch 1590-ish hands down

Festool Carvex, Bosch JS572 or a used Bosch 1587/1590.

Bosch... or did someone already say that?

Another vote for Bosch; mine's soldiered on for 15 years and still going strong.

Chandos

Love mine.

I got a new 6.5amp Bosch that I love, got it for $99 on sale. The 7 amp was $60 more.

1590/1587 bosch, not their newer ones...

I guess I'll go out on a limb here.....Bosch. Well worth the extra money

I have the Bosch JS470E. Love it.

Thanks, I've made up my mind. Harbor Freight it is!
