Ok first time posting but have been searching the forum for years.
Little backround I have a 24x36 pole barn style shop i built about 5 years ago. Over time I have insulated, rocked, and heated it. Well last winter I bought a small utility tractor to move snow and ran out of room in my garage so I built on a 10x18 lean to store the tractor.
I'm having mixed thoughts on how to insulate the ceiling of my new addition. The ceiling is held up with 2x8's on end with a tin roof. I have put 2x4's flat in between the 2x8's to support the tin a bit.
I have been told by some that I need to leave an air gap between the tin and insulation, but others say that will cause moisture and I need to have it tight against the tin?
I know spray foam would be the way to go but I already went way over budget on this according to my wife. With using batts I know i won't be able to get it 100% against the tin because of all the 2x4 supports I have. I also thought about blowing in every space with fiberglass blow in. I figured by blowing it in it would fill every rib of the tin also.
Original Garage and then addition.
Wall attached to original Garage
Outside Wall
I'm just at a loss on what to do without causing issues with moisture years down the road.
Thanks for any input you may have.
