I'm looking to outfit my truck with a new small air compressor.

Here are my desires:

- 120V
- Small as possible
- 100 PSI min.

and here's the big one:

- must be able to run off a Honda 2000 (watt) generator

I currently have a small sears compressor and a dewalt twin tank. Both are about 1hp 14-15 amp. Neither of these will kick over on the generator even with purged tanks.

Most of the time I'll have regular power when I use them, but sometimes not. I really don't want to carry around a 12v also. I also don't want gas.

I've seen units like the evole at sears, but it sounds like a inflator.

Suggestions or idea?

There are many "pancake" compressors that would have less than a 15A starting current. The big problem is, you will have to try them, because no one actually advertise start up current on electric motors.

You will probably be limited to 1/2 hp.

Might could put decent size start cap on your current compressors. I would think it would take enough of that instant load to make things work for you. After that they won't draw much power... Honestly shocked an EU2000 can't run one, we can run 2 sets of tire warmers at the track off an EU2000.

The other option would be to buy another EU2000 and run the piggy back system, then you wouldn't have just an air compressor you could run. But you could run any larger tool you needed. Food for thought....

Used to have a friend that carried a little Senco rebranded unit to air up the tires on his jeep with an inverter. Wish I had a model number or something for ya, but it was definitely Senco.

I was shocked as well that the 2000 wouldn't work!

I'm considering a cap, but thought I would ask here first. As muchas I would like the companion 2000, I just can't justify a grand for one. Also, I don't want to carry another one.

Perhaps one of the 1/2hp harbor freight units are the answer?
