I just grabbed this saw sans motor. Does anyone have one lurking around by chance they will sell? I am looking for single phase, preferable 1-1.5 hp.

Thanks,

Mike

Once you have the motor frame size, the rest should be easy.

@BigMike782 can you post a pic of your motor nameplate for OP so he can get the frame info?

Keep your eye open for dud electric pressure washers like the one pictured. I have seen these for as little as $50 when the pump goes bad. They usually have a 1 1/2 HP motor. That special mount could be fabricated and strapped on to the motor with metal (pallet) banding. Have also seen table saws going for $25 with 1 HP motors.

Oh, I never had one but always hoped for one!!!

Well, sounds like an adapter plate is probably needed otherwise.

Leeson makes motors with tabs for Unisaw mounting. Please, if your saw cabinet has the rounded hole like in the picture I posted above, do not hack up the cabinet to cobble a 56 frame motor into it.

If it were my saw, I would find an original RI motor and have it rebuilt before I adapted one. The old motors run very well.

I found various hp Leeson Unisaw motors available. Up to 4 hp quickly scanning. Some were pricey! Up to $1000.

Zoro had a 2hp version for $700. Zoro has 20% off coupons available once you make the mailing list. They could have additional hp available.

I did see a SF of only 1.0, where in this application, I would expect 1.15.

One website stated not knowing if the fit was for left or right tilt saws. That was for you to determine.

I did get the original pulley with the motor and should do just fine as I don't plan on cutting anything over 2"-maaaybe 2 1/4'-maybe. If I need anything thicker then I have my tilty which has a beefier motor.

I had a unisaw with the 1 HP motor and it did just fine.
As powerful as a 3HP ? No way ! But powerful enough for 95 percent of my woodworking. Not like I was ripping 2" oak all day.

Yeah I will have to cut some 2" oak for the sub-rails on my car. But that is 2 long pieces and that will be it. Otherwise it will be short small cuts ash. So nothing super heavy for long periods of time.
