Goodyear makes a nice hose, darn if I lost the HF flyer that came in the mail today, they were talking about a brand new hose product that was the kat's meow and twice as strong as Goodyear (something like $30.00 for 50 feet of air hose)? with a very nice coupon to boot in that flyer. Sorry the name of the hose escapes me at this time any other GJ'ers get that flyer?

The last hoses I bought were Goodyear from eBay. They have lasted over 10 years (light use) with no signs of wear.

I like the hybrid hoses (like the Tekton the OP mentioned.) I have a Flexzilla reel and use that for 90% of what I do in the garage. I have polyurethane hoses (1/4") that I use for my trim nailers. Rubber ones are fine but PVC hoses really **** - I can't see a reason to have one.

I use Flexzilla green hoses myself. Light and very easy to coil/uncoil. Not very durable if you are welding/torching near them, as I have burned a hole in one from molten cutting slag falling onto it.

Try the Amazon hose and if you don't like it return it! My Red Goodyear was kind of poopy when I first bought it. I had to stretch it out foot by foot and make it snap before it behaved well. I've since used Sears Craftsman and Speedaire hoses that don't require the same "break in" procedure. They don't seem quite as durable. I've already had to chop off one of the crimp connections off my Craftsman and replace it with a hose barb. But they are lighter and lay on the floor easily right out of the box.

I have a few Goodyear hoses (1/2, 3/8, and 1/4) and haven't had a single problem with any. I have a 15 year old or so Craftsman hose that is beginning to dry rot and leaks a little, but it's been through the ringer and still gets occasional use with the mobile compressor. I bought a HF whip hose and it leaked from the swivel joint the second I hooked it up. I will NEVER buy an air hose from them again. If I ever do need another air hose, it will be Goodyear because of the excellent luck I've had. I also have a Matco swivel whip hose and it works great.

I also have a Snap On labeled hose I bought from Home Depot, I think, or some big box store, a long time ago and it *****.

I had a small air compressor fall over and split a Goodyear hose wide open. So I'm not sure they're super durable, but they "feel" more durable than the Craftsman or Speedaire. Never burned any of them open from welding but I do a fair amount of work with pneumatic angle grinders which make a lot of sparks.

In the latest flyer Harbor Freight has a coupon for the 3/8" x 50 ft. Diablo air hose priced at $18.99, with a limit of 6. They have four lot numbers, so there are probably several suppliers in China.

The description is "HEAVY DUTY RUBBER AIR HOSE". I have not checked them for odor. I haven't even looked them over, so this is not an endorsement.

I have been using blubird hose as of late. Can't compare it to flexilla but it's quite a bit more pliable than the Goodyear hose at cold temps. It's also fair priced at that $30 for 50' range.

I recommend Goodyear F5 hose. I work for a Goodyear/Contitech distributor and the MFG Rep gave us some samples. Ive been using it for about 2 years with no complaints. Unbelievably lightweight.

One of the tool reviewers around here had good things to say about the

Blue Bird hybrid I believe. Flexible at cold temps, quality materials, cheap.

I've got the following at home in terms of hoses:

- Goodyear yellow rubber (both full length and lead in)
- Beldin or Belkin or some random no name red rubber
- Cheap no name black sorta rubberish hose
- Tekton hybrid lead in hose
- Milton swivel whip
- Sold it, but had a bottom barrel PVC that came with my first compressor

Out of all of those, the tekton is the nicest feeling hose. Given the hype of goodyear hoses, I wasn't impressed with it, not that it's bad but it's not much better than some of the cheaper no name rubber ones I've used.

New hose arrived, seems light and well made, only problem is that it has MPT ends and the fittings are NPT, anyone know what the difference is?

MPT is an NPT thread. MPT just means it's a Male Pipe Thread.
