I second the Opinel-

I don't like spending a lot of money on an everyday carry knife because it leaves you feeling sick if you lose it.

The Opinel Carbone (carbon steel blade) is very easy sharpened. I just give it a 20 second run against the air sander. Currently using a number 8 but it is a bit bulky. I do prefer the number 6.
Be warned the Opinel are have a fairly thin blade and are not a prying knife.

I also picked up a Fallkniven U2 a number of years ago-

It's a very nice no frills knife but I am scared of losing it so rarely gets used.

Every time I read these knife threads, it makes me want to buy another knife. The thought is I could keep it as a back up if my S&W breaks but I already have a spare of what I EDC. It's a twin of what I carry now given to me by my neighbor.

Guessing most here are like me; since I was five years old, if I've got on pants, a knife is in the right front pocket.

Might be a shock to this group, but since schools now prohibit them and metal detectors are everywhere, most younger-than-30 guys and/or metrosexuals don't own a folding pocket knife, much less carry one.

I'm an old guy and in my office, if something had to be cut, it was always, "Jack carries a knife!" as if that made me armed and dangerous.

Jack;
perfectly said.....:beer:

been carrying a knife since i was 5.....i'm 65
a Benchmade #943 now, previously a #707.....is ALWAYS in my waistband

i'm in the checkout line at Trader Joe's (a local market) there are free helium balloons for the kids.....the young mother behind me can't untie the balloon....

CLICK, the Benchmade is out, big gasp from the rest of the people in line as they back away
i cut the string and hand the balloon to the little kid.....the mother thanks me

i look at the paranoids....."yes, i've been carrying a pocket knife since i was 5......and got my first gun when i was 8"
:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

yes, all my girl friends get a set of real kitchen knives and LEARN how to sharpen them
they also learn to TIG......
and ride a motor cycle, only if they want to

Jack;
i don't have cheap tools, knives, guns, cameras or motorcycles.....
but then again i'm single too:thumbup:

I EDC a sebenza 21 in carbon fiber, a spydie military, caly3 carbon fiber and when fishing a salt 1. I also carry a d2 griptilian, a Kershaw blur and an opinel. For multi tools I carry either a wave, a swisschamp or a huntsman lite. I used to carry a swisstool but the wave beat that out of my pocket. For fixed blades I carry a venom green ESEE 4 scout style or a custom I had made on my right side.

Kershaw Scallion that has had a few things changed
Called Kershaw and asked for a black pocket clip which they sent free of charge
then I oil quenched the screws and the washer in the lock to blacken them

For the record I am also young adult and carry my knife anywhere that doesnt have a metal detector
