My gas Campbell Hausfeld pressure washer pump is starting to leak. I use it for a lot of things but most recently to foam wash my car. So I'm thinking of maybe getting a good electric pressure washer and tearing apart the gas washer to replace the seal.

What is a good recommendation for an electric pressure washer?

You really need to give some idea of what PSI and GPM you are wanting, and/or price range.

Otherwise..... IMO.........

A "good" one, with a VERY good quality rebuildable pump, and the best overall value I found, is below.

If you JUST want to wash your car, you can spend much much less, but be aware they are cheaply chineez made throw away items. Marc

I just bought a Simpson from Sam's about a year ago. It is in no way meant to wash cars at 4k psi, but it's very effective at cleaning siding. I'd recommend one, mine has a Honda engine and a pump you change the oil in every 100 hours.

I have a Karcher electric that I use for car washing. I have a reel just inside the garage door for the hose. (Actually several hoses put together) The PW sits inside connected to electric and water.

It's 10 years old or more and recently started to leak like the OP. When it gets bad enough, I'll replace it with another Karcher. This is the second one I have had and I seem to get about 10 years out of each one. Either was less than $200.

I do use a foam gun, and I'd assume it would work better with higher pressure than the 1200PSI this one generates....but all in all a good compromise. I also have a gas unit but the electric is easier and faster for car washing.

The new pressure washer would be used primarily for washing my cars. I am thinking electric so that it will be easy to use and store.
Hopefully I can repair my gas pressure washer pump for all other work.

I like the Northern Tools pressure washer but hopefully won't need a gas washer unless I can't fix mine.

Thanks,

I purchased a DeWalt 3800 PSI pressure washer 3 years ago and I would not recommend. The Honda GX engine is very fuel sensitive and has a serious issue with ethanol, the carb has had to be rebuilt 2x already and will need to be again as it again will draw fuel.

Try some PRI-G additive in your gas. Stuff is amazing. I put it an everything I own that has a small engine and they always start on the first pull. Carbs never get gummed up or anything. I've let them sit for months at a time and as long as they have PRI they always start. Better than Sta-Bil and lasts a lot longer.
