Not to break the thread or anything but I guess I miss the attraction of a traditional “screwdriver set”. Torx, Allen, etc sure, buying a set makes sense. Beyond electric work I hardly ever reach for a flathead screwdriver unless I’m prying on something. I am lost on the buy a 6-7 pc screwdriver set with 4 flat and p1-3 if you already have screwdrivers. As evidenced by this thread, there are lots of great screwdrivers today for not a ton of money. Vessel, Wera, Williams, Proto Etc.

What has you looking for a new set? Phillips not grabbing like it did? Bent up flatheads? Buy some premium drivers in the sizes you actually need, with shaft lengths that make sense to you, not the standard set people. I love a good 8”-10” #2 Phillips, the 4” seems short, but it’s what’s in the set. Buy a good bit driver handle and some good bits, try new things, and you and your toolbox will be better for it.

I would suggest buying key screwdrivers that will see regular use from a manufacturer that you like. (PB Swiss, Whia, Wera, etc) The #2 Phillips are the most common I use. I have a 24 piece hard handle set from a Taiwan manufacturer that the Torx, slotted, square are near new. Wasted $ since they only look nice in the rack being the same handle type. The flat blades will seldom get used for the fasteners I turn.

The Felo 53167 Ergonic were added a couple years back and I really like the Phillips bits. The set looks nice and the slotted bits have sat gathering dust. The Vessel jaws fit is also one I'll regularly reach for. I wish they made those in a variety of shaft lengths. The Felo 552 series with strike cap is also liked. The hard chrome Wiha shafts/tips are excellent.

With slotted when they are needed I use the hollow ground type insert bits. The 1/8" slotted I use for the sprinkler head spray adjustment.
