Need a new snow blower

We recently moved and I have a lot more area to clear now - we live on a corner with sidewalk on two sides and an oval driveway. My current blower is a Honda 724 track drive. I hate track drives after dealing with this one for a few years. I'd stay with Honda but their biggest blower is track only. I need at least a 10 horse if not 11.

So for durability and bruteness what should I be looking at? and no, a plow is not an option.

Tecumseh claims to have sold 4 our of 5 snow thrower engines ever made. (or something like that.) I must say that my Tecumseh 5.5 horse starts much more reliably when it is cold than my equivalnt sized B&S engines do when it is warm.

I've got a snowblower from a company called "Murray." It's got an 8HP Tecumseh engine, a 27" opening, 6 forward speeds, 2 reverse speeds, pull start, and push start. Even when it was -10* last year, it started on the first pull. The best snowblower I've ever used.

You need to look at an electric start 2 stage Ariens. I have had mine almost 30 years and I easily cleared a 9" snow with it just last week! Mine is only 5hp and 24" wide with electric start, self propel 4 speeds forward and one reverse. Mine has the Tecumseh Snow King engine. Also a must have are a set of tire chains; worth their weight in gold to get the most out of the machine! BTW, THE TWO STAGE FEATURE IS AN IMPORTANT ONE THAT SEPERATES THE REAL SNOW THROWS FROM THE WANNA BEES!

We had a Toro that was a good machine but have always sworn by Airens snow throwers.
The Airens Professional series looks awesome!

I would look for an older (1980s) model on craigs list rather than any of the new **** coming out. Go buy a big 2 stage hunk of iron.
