I had a speedglas 9002x for yrs. I sold it and my lincoln 180c. I bought my thermal arc 211i, which came with a free Tweco helmet..

The Tweco is not a bad helmet for the money, I like it, its as clear as the speedglas was, but the tweco isnt built as well and you can tell it, but the speedglas was $300. I wouldnt be scared of the Tweco for $100..

I would also look at the Hobart line, I think the Hobart XVS is a good buy for the money..

I just replaced my hf auto dark with a Lincoln Viking 3350 and am very happy with my upgrade. My hf was starting to flash me more often than not. The big window on the Lincoln is really helpful when doing weird out of position welding. It's more $$$ but I think it's worth it.

I had an old speedglas fixed 10 shade at work for about 15 years, and a Vision fixed 10 at home. I started tig welding at home last winter and found the 10 shade to be too light. My eyes hurt a little after welding. I bought a Miller digital elite for home and love it. My Speedglass died a couple of months ago after 15 years of great service, but I replaced it with another Digital elite, and haven't looked back.

For those who don't know, the more sensors the hood has, the better. Less chance of the hood lightening up during welding. The Digital elite has 4 sensors, my old speedglass had 2, and would lighten up occasionally if an obstruction blocked the sensors from the arc rays.

I have a HF helmet the recently turned off twice in one day while I was doing some welding for work. I bought a Miller digital elite and its really a nice helmet. It was 5 times the cost of the HF one but its more the worth it.

I use the cheapie Wel-Bilt from Northern Tool. I'm sure its not the best, but I've got a bunch of hours under it and its never failed me once. I'll eventually replace it with something better.
