I would like to post this toolbox for sale on my local Craigs list. Hopefully someone here can give me an idea of my asking price. Should be Harbor Freight, at least 10 years old. The rubber on all the wheels has fallen off, otherwise its just a bit faded. Thanks

300.00 and you'll probably get close to that unless you live in the sticks.

doubt that. They were just on sale for $339 brand new at HF. Around here, they sell used for $200 if they are in good to very good condition. Wheels are expensive to replace.

Prices are so regional, it is hard to tell, You have not location listed in your profile.
But around here you would be hard to get 100.00 out of it. Sorry to tell you.

Question - how the heck do you get that home with casters in that condition? Not a dig at the OP or the price just a practical question...Like do you slide that into a bed on the wheels or do you need to put on its side (on some blankets)? And how to protect everything in between?

Around here that thing would be on Craigslist for $700, and still be there 6 mos from now...

To the OP, $50 if I had to replace the castors...

The new price is normally 369 with coupon plus sales tax. Id price it at 250 and be glad to get 200 because of the wheels. The people saying 100-150 must not look on craigslist often.

It's 350 bucks brand new nation-wide.

Best case 70% of retail. Less for the broken casters, faded paint, and stickers.

It will still roll as long as the drawers are empty...but it will go ka-thunk, ka-thunk, ka-thunk...

haha, like every WalMart shopping cart.

Unfortunately US General box casters are a bit of an odd size. Doesn't make for an easy / cheap replacement.

Around here you'd be lucky to get $100 for that box as is. That wouldn't stop me from listing it for a little more though. Maybe '$150 OBO' and see what happens.

It'd take a lot of convincing to get me to pay $100 for it. If it had casters in good condition I could see $150, $200 if you get super lucky, but I'd bet you'd be waiting forever to get it.

I'm curious what happened to the casters. Is that crappy Chinese quality rubber that's disintegrated or were there other factors involved.

Just curious? Was this it?

You're thinking in generic terms. Fact is its still a lot of toolbox for the money caster condition or no. Plenty of guys on here have re-sold their HF 44 boxes for $250+ and I even remember a couple stating they didn't even last a day.

I could easily see $250-275 for one in nice shape, but not this one.

thanks for your opinions gentlemen. The wheels still functioned when I moved it into place 6 years ago. They became brittle and disinagrated over that time period.

Agreed. -70% would be around $100, plus take off $40-$50 bucks for decent casters, then there's possible rust/corrosion, worn out drawer slides, dents, dings, stickers, bad paint....

I wish the OP luck, but I wouldn't have it for anywhere near what others are saying...

Every time I see one of these on CL they're $250+, and they don't seem to stay listed long. The castors will definitely hurt the price, and it might even be worth it for you to replace those before selling. I'd say you could get $200 out of it as is, but it might not be the quickest/easiest sell with the casters.

No insult intended, I'd give $100 if you were delivering it to my garage. Otherwise no thanks. Too much work involved in that condition, new casters required. I can get a brand new one for $329 on Black Friday.

I would just roll it into the back of my truck or trailer, neither of them is that precious.

At a minimum, i would remove the remaining rubber and grease the casters. I'd list it for $200obo and take the first $100-150 to show up.

I bet it will move quickly.

With all the sales going on for the holidays, I think it will be hard to get 200+ for a box that needs casters and the stickers removed. I could be wrong, but that's my two cents. And you didn't mention how the drawers work, so that may not be in your favor either.
