need a quick lesson on snap on tool boxes

My first toolbox was a Snap-On KR661, Eagle limited edition (photo is web found, not my actual box).

I traded it in on a Snap-On KRL1003, Intimidator II limited edition (photo is my actual box).

Either the KRA or the KRL is a good box. If you are going to spend the big bucks (which I feel is a bad idea from an investment standpoint), you might as well get the better KRL series. If you can save up the cash, you'll get more for your money buying used. I see smoking deals on Craigslist all the time.

kra, pros: inexpensive, lifetime warranty on sliders and casters, nice starter box
cons: some are built in canada, can't handle the weight that a krl can.
krl, pros: weight capacity, same warranty, more drawer configurations,
cons: price?

both are great boxes... but unless you are moving into a 7022 or bigger go with the kra... you can always trade that box in for a krl

Built in Canada is a pro not a con. Its all a matter of perspective.

The price and the capacity is the most difference.
Anyway, bot series are (in my opinion) the best stuff worldwide.

A big advantage is, that you can remove any drawer...>>>that's cool if you must transport your box!

KRA200x is the cheapest offer from Snap-On, each drawer has a minimum load of 35kg!!!
Even with many high weighted tools...the drawers are running like butter.

A lot of small details like a lid at the end of each drawer (tools doesn't intelock).

I am in the market for a used snap on tool box, basically what is the difference between the krl and the kra's?
i am interested in a roll cab.
i am not interested in any other makes.

Yeah, I know this is an old thread...

The Lista stuff is much better made than the Snappy stuff.

Just as configurable, you can remove all the drawers and slides for transport and only one drawer can be open at once.

Snappy will never have a 400# rating per drawer.

Lots more used Snappy stuff for sale now with the economic issues. I certainly wouldn't buy a new Snappy box at retail.

A little off topic but does anyone know the difference between a KRA2107 and KRA4107? According to the website there are few differences (casters, load rating) but is it worth the $573 price difference. Is the KRA4107 made better or have better slides to justify the price difference?

Bob, I actually two Kra4107d models. One I bought for 600 bucks loaded with tools and the other one I got for 350 from a kid getting out of the tech program. One is at home and one is at the shop. I also have the top section as well that has 5 full width drawers. I picked that up for 400. This was all off of Craigslist. Look around hard bC you can find these boxes for probably the price difference alone. If you are ape ing money on a New one, look hard at a used KRL 54" box. Those also come up all the time. They are 29" deep. Good luck. ( I don't actually know the answer to your question)

Many here will tell you that bigger is better and this is absolutely false.

The smallest box you can work out of is what is best. It is hard to find that medium though.

Can some one please tell me what box this is? I just bought it and I couldn't find a stamp or anything on the back of it in the lower right hand corner . I'm hoping it's real Im not sure it's 25 1/2 inches long . I'd like to buy some replacement parts for it but I can't figure out what model it is. Also what's the best way to clean a snap on box wd-40 ?

I believe that is a KR 557. Sometimes model is not a sticker but stamped in the metal on the back. Possibly under bottom drawer on inside too

I think that's either a KR 555 if friction slides and KR 655 if ball bearing slides.
