Need a screw

The old blackhawk jack is missing a screw from the handle just like this.

I would think any good hardware store could fix you up with something as simple as that. If not try fastnal or someplace like that.

I`ve tried the conventional places but there does not appear to be anything new like that old scerw.

try an electric motor repair shop--or just use a flat head bolt -[any hardware store should keep them--it does not have to have a rounded top]

Ok here are the dimensions
3/8 long shank
5/8 wide head
and looks like a 16 thread pitch
And don`t forget the beveling under the head

That's a raised countersunk head slotted screw.

Looks like the shortest Bolt Depot has is 3/8-16 X 1", and only in stainless. Last resort, cut it off.

As simple as this screw looks, it was tough to find for me as well. Closest thing I came across in my local hardware market was a button head stove bolt.

These handle screws originally were used together with a countersunk outside star washer. The length is critical, if too long they will interfere with the operation of the internal control rods.

I played hell getting the couple that I needed off a seriously rusted jack. The head takes a really big screwdriver which I discovered that I didn't own one that was actually big enough to fit correctly. I finally ended up using the tip of a huge straight prybar along with a wrench on the prybar flats to remove these bad boys without screwing them up to much.

You need to know the bolt OD and pitch though.

That's an orphan thread, best to check against any common 1/4-20 UNC bolt to be sure of requirement.

You got you screw ! we need photos is it 1/4 -16 thread ? Now I need to check my taps. I got from my brother that he got in a machinist tools chest in 1973 in was old then. And had some odd taps in it . IT seem like only a couple of years ago

Im afraid our buddy Jab guessed at the threads and diameter. I had him screw his sample into a common 5/16-18 nc nut , and it matched ..... He's buying all of us a round of Foster's Lager for the help .......
