MSC and Grainger are very expensive. Looking for a decent alternative. I know Crosby will not be cheap just looking for better than MSC. Looking for swivel rings, hooks, shackles, etc

Any scrap yards near you? I'm in northern CA, there's a yard not far from me that has piles/barrels of shackles, from small to very large. Plenty are Crosby. Likewise ( though not as many) at another scrapyard even closer to me.

Do you mind saying what yards? I understand if you don't want to give up a "secret" spot. I'm in Yuba County for reference.

Good Scrap Yard? Oh yes, please share if you don't mind. Getting harder and harder to find in the urban sprawl.

I'm not sure what brand they sell, but McMaster has plenty of lifting supplies, and if they sell it, it won't be junk.

If you're set on Crosby, you'll probably get the best deal from Zoro if you can get a coupon. At work, we dealt with I & I sling, but I have no idea if they do the E commerce thing. There are some Crosby products listed on Amazon.

Where I saw the most shackles and related stuff was at Delta salvage in Oakley CA near Antioch here:

In Lodi CA, a much smaller yard, but have a couple large shelves of usable pieces near their scale, including some hooks and shackles, plus multiple stacks of used metal. called M & R metal sales. They do new metal sales as well

Probably the biggest Northern CA scrap yard I'm aware of is Maselli's in Petaluma. They are pricier, but a truly massive assortment. Plan a least an hour to walk the whole yard. here:
