Need a wall clock for the garage

I have an inexpensive, standard looking round clock face about 16" in diameter in my garage and use it frequently to see the time since I don't wear a watch. It's a bit fiddly to reset the hands twice a year for daylight savings time or when the battery finally dies.

I'd like to find a digital clock to replace it, something that can update based upon daylight savings time. Anybody have a decent clock in their garage they can recommend?

Sam's club has a Sharp brand "atomic" clock. It is analog display with digital innards. Sets time automatically and daylight savings too. About $17, a nice large face easy to see from far away.

Sharp brand "atomic" clock.
I have one and it's ****. It worked oK for a few months and I assume the radio receiver eventually quit. It never did adjust for the time change. It needs to be able to pick up the signal from WWVB in Ft Collins CO. Very time consuming to set by hand.

I have had an atomic clock at work for several years...the atomic function has worked well for about 10 or so years....not working anymore. I do have the weather clock that has an outdoor and indoor temp also....those are great functions for a business setting when you are stuck indoors all day.... the brand is Lacrosse....link below.

I have a smaller LED clock I bought several months ago. It's a Lacrosse and one of a few that I have had over the years. Since I heat with a wood burner, I prefer to have clock/thermometer combo. It has an outdoor thermometer, that is an added plus.

I think I bought it at one of the big box stores.

My friend has two battery clocks from garage sales. Under each clock is a sign. One sign suggests, summer and the other says winter. The batteries last more that 2 years. He is a practical person. He has a bunch of hacksaws, each with a different tooth count.
I use my laptop in the garage every day. and the time automatically changes. For day to day time, I bought a microwave with a digital clock. I think I will be buying a second analogue battery clock for the shop. I want one that will display "summer".

My favorite clock place
Maybe because the are only about 30 miles from me.

I like the side by side "summer" and "winter" idea for hard to reach clocks.
A stroke of genius.

I have checked into hotels with a wall of clocks behind the desk with the time around the world displayed.

I always wondered who had the job of keeping them in order.
(In the mid-east some of the were 30 min. difference.)

It would be a good way to teach world geography to a low grade employee.
How many of them know that Chile is east of NYC?

Good info here! I like an accurate clock in our master bath when getting read for work. Of course there is real time and wife time which leads real time by 15 minutes.

I love that clock, but why is the clock battery, but the neon light 120V? Couldn't they just make the whole thing 120V?

When the power dies your clock stops. With the battery, you don't have to reset it when the power goes out...

I have 3 - an old atomic clock that works fine until the time signal doesn't get received, then it's all over the map until it picks up the radio signal again, an old Numechron that sits above my workbench (that keeps amazing time for a 70 year old plug in electric clock as long as the power doesn't go out), and a cheapy battery powered dial clock that cost all of $9.95 and if it dies (like it's predecessor did) it goes into yon trashcan and gets replaced. (Which is about to be the fate of that POS "atomic clock".)

I looked online at garage clocks, and all of the neon ones use a battery for time, and 120V for the light. At least some of them have a pull chain for the light. Many of them have a switch on the back of the clock. How convenient is that? I guess it would be OK on a switched outlet.

WALMART  I bought a clock from there a few years back. About the same size as yours. Is baffled the **** out of me and the wife thought I was nuts because I told her I never had to change it for DST :lol_hitti But one day I had the door open when it was windy and the clock blew off the wall and busted. There was a switch on the back that had a normal position and a DST position. Never knew such a critter existed. :headscrat IIRC, the clock was only about $13.00

OR.....go through the hobby section of a hobby shop or even WallyWorld....Pick up a clock mechanism. Find an old hubcap, drill a hole and install. Numbers are optional.

This is nice, 23 1/4" diameter.
Although I know you said you wanted a digital readout.

I'm wondering what is fiddly about resetting the time on your present clocks...most of them have a little knob on the back and it takes about 30 seconds to reset them for daylight savings time. Having to do that twice a year, even if you have to use a ladder, doesn't seem like much of a hardship.

There was a 32 page long discussion here on "let's see your shop clock"; take a look through there to see if there's something you like. https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=59129
