This place is driving me crazy!! I forked over a ton of case to install a heat pump (DIY), and I was now going to do a water softener... My old lady (don't tell her I called her that) has been driving me nutz about how terrible the well water has been on her hair for years now... Well, my problem is, my water test came back acidic... That explains my I lost a water heat a few years ago ...

Ok.. So I need recommendations on a Acid Neutralizer for 4 person household ... here's my well water test results..

Hardness - 9 grains
PH - 5.9
TDS - 110
Iron - none detected.

Thanks all!

I have thought on this subject for an hour now.
I would call around maybe google some water softener companies in your area
Call them and talk to a few of them, or if you have a reputable well driller in your area they would best know the water in your area.

I found this out the hard way by not listening to the reputable well driller in the area on a project a few years ago

check out qualitywatertreatment.com. I bought my stuff from them. You need a neutralizer first because your water is acidic. That is what corrodes pipes and fittings and probably leaves blue green stains in you sinks. Then after the neutralizer, you'll want to put in a water softener. Get both on -line. It won't break the bank. You can do the installation. The softener is needed after the neutralizer because the neutralizer adds some hardness.

That strikes me as unusual to have such low TDS and have that low of a pH. More typical of a surface water source. I'd consider a deeper well to get away from surface sources that may be high in acids. How deep is your well?
