need advice on a bracket/motor

Good morning,

I just hooked up my pool lines & noticed the bracket at the bottom on my electric pump motor (HAYWARD LX1580 1 hp) is rotted & unable to be used.

I was wondering if anyone made or has ideas on how to secure the pump to the base?
Metal straps?

I can't seem to find mounting brackets for electric motors on line.

Anyone have any ideas?

It's hard to tell exactly what you're looking for without a picture. Do you mean the motor mount?

However, you might be able to get one from a local company that specializes in motor repair. They might have a good used one from a burned out motor.

This is the pump I have. The mounting bracket on the bottom rotted/rusted off. I need to somehow secure it to a base.

I would find a cradle that fits the arc of the motor OD

at an electric motor repair shop, then do whatever is

necessary to (modify if necessary) attach it to your

motor with a couple of large stainless steel worm drive

clamps. Keep it simple.

This is a $10-$15 part. Your local pool center will locate for you or you can find at an online pool center.
Locate the pump model number that you have. Find the parts schematic from Hayward online and locate the part number for your model.
Hayward calls these 'Mounting Foot'

How did the base rot out that bad yet the motor still work? Was it bolted to a wet surface of chlorine or something? Just curious

IIRC those are spot welded to the motor housing. If you have enough solid material left you could weld or even bolt a sub plate on and then use the sub plate to secure the motor down.

2x4.... 3 1/2" holesaw ... Paint/stain....big worm clamp or other means of securing it to 2x4

if you were closer i'd give you one, have one on the shelf a bit rusty and the other is newer but getting rid of the pool...they do rust from the chlorine in the pool water sitting on ithere when it splashes. usually the motors seize up before they rust out completely. IIRC, the flange is welded to the motor case, new pump motor is the obvious solution, but maybe you can strap it down with big worm clamps, or weld up a bracket of some sort. check CL for used pump motors, those Haywards are pretty common around here.

I would make a base out of sheetmetal and use hose clamps to secure the motor. Here's a quick concept.

Gungatim, Thank you so much for the offer. That is very nice of you to offer.

And thank you to all the great ideas for my pump. The base was wet/chlorine & it ate away the metal. Its a 13 yr old pump that still runs quiet & powerful.
