Need advice on a hex bit set

Hey guys, I'm looking for some affordable hex bits that won't round off. I was wondering if anyone offers just the actual bit part so I could just use it in a regular socket, similar to the following:

http://www.toolking.com/titan-16112-13-piece-mm-hex-socket-set-with-mag-holder

It's something I don't use super often, but when I do I don't want to snap them off or round out the hole. I thought maybe I could find something along those lines and end up with a higher quality tool for lower price. Otherwise any recommendations on decent brands that aren't crazy expensive?

Thanks!

Apex. They aren't expensive, unless you compare them to the really cheap stuff.

But anything's going to eventually wear.

some takes allot longer to then others. I have wiha bits that are still in fantastic sharp after 6 years of daily uses. Wiha makes a very hard bits and socket bits. Just like their screwdrivers heads.

HF and tap them with a hammer if you need to fully seat them, rounding out is user error IMHO.

OTOH Apex is about as good as it gets, industrial quality.

I have to disagree, when it come to hex and torx bits, the Wiha are the best out there, followed by wera and bondus. Apex stuff are good, but not in the same class as wiha.

I have a set of Bondus t-handled and set of screwdriver hex's. They are 100% top ****. I am sure their bits are as well. I also have some Wiha screwdrivers and they are also top ****. Either brand will do it right.

Back to the OP's question. The titan will work, and are well made stuff from taiwan. Not the cheap made in china bits. If you do not use them often. The titan set will do the job for you.

If you want to spend more there are way higher grade hex out there on the market. But for under 11 dollars. The titan is a very good value, and good quality. I got mine power built version for 4.40, so I have no complaints.

Most of my issues started with the **** fasteners that aren't quite the right size, or that are over torqued and require far too much force to remove. Once you have a compromised fastener, you need every ounce of strength you can get on the very edges of the bit. Thats why i got tired of warrantying my Matco sockets and eventually knocked all the bits out and replaced them with the Whia bits.

Try to get the WERA's, they offer a reversed flank drive...means, the same thing was a flank drive socket does just in the other direction.

Helped me alot!!!! And they will not brake or worn out.

It's not worth arguing -- but I've put every bit out there to the test for the past 40 years in an industrial environment. Unless it's a wiha bit I'm unaware of, it's ain't holding up next to Apex.

Maybe you're just turning wood screws or something. If so, I can't comment on that.

+1 I work with socket head cap screws all day every day and the wiha's wouldn't last a week. These guys blowing the "if it's european it must be the best" horn obviously have never used anything but european tools

My first thought was that for a product of this quality, "kitting" only serves to devalue the product. Imagine my surprise:

Thanks for all the input guys, I just ordered the Titan bits!!

$20 shipped for SAE and Metric was too good to pass up, especially because I only use them occasionally
