i tried searching. have you any idea what happens when you use the word "tool" in the "search this forum" search box???:shocking::shocking::shocking::shocking:

i need a tool belt. i know **** about them. i'm not even sure how much tool bag i need.
here's the scoop. i'm an apprentice in the sheet metal trade. i'm working for a roofing company. when i go out in the field i'll be on a roof all day working with sheet steel and aluminum. i need a tool belt to carry tin snips, tape measure, hammer, various fasteners, rivet gun, drill and who knows what else while i'm scaling ladders.
i bought this one from lowes this afternoon. after going home and looking at the less than favorable reviews online i think it's going back.

I would go out and get a Dead On products full framers bags ($60 at Home Depot) and you can take off one side if you dont need it or what have you.

When I roof I only wear one of the bags and turn it around behind me, I also use the hammer loop for my hammer tack. Working with sheet metal do not get anything but a leather one or you cut it up. Thats my experience for what its worth. Everyone on our crew wears them The thicker the belt the more comfortable. We always buy ones that come with suspenders as well, and keep them in the toolbox for when you do have to carry a hammer, hammer tack, drill , couple rolls of nails, etc. the suspenders will make you a believer .

I use the top of the line Craftsman leather only - thick wide - has dual hole buckle belt. Expect many years of daily use out of it in all weather. Prefer the thick leather pockets (not flimsy thin), knife, tape, accessory holders as you need them and per the job. I like the high end Nicholson, some Craftsman. As someone mentioned, suspenders work and worth trying, but not required.
