Not knowing what you need to run makes it hard to answer. But I have a feeling the answer is no. The wire is #10 and is good for 30A total.

Are you running.............

One new circuit?

Providing a new service for the garage?

Doing all of the wiring in the garage?

Is this attached to a house?

Detached, free standing?

I mean, most everyone on here is pretty good at figuring things out, but we gotta know what you are doing and how and why and where and what in, to give any educated information or help.

It also says on the label "XHHW 2 Str Bk" (Cross linked polyethylene insulation suitable for use in wet locations #2 Stranded Black)

If that's the case, with Copper you would be able to run up to 115 amps on the circuit
If Aluminum 90 amps.
It must be installed in conduit.

This will run from my house (200amp box) to the 30x40 pole barn (100 amp box). The distance is about 80ft from box to box. I have 2" conduit that will be under ground and the wire is aluminum.

Thank you so much all for the responses! I want to run just about anything......220v air compressor, welder etc.

Oops, I was reading the XHHW 2 as meaning XHHW-2. I was thinking the number w904-10-30a was showing the size and amp. So as said it's good for up to 90 amps.

Ok so now that we cleared that up, OP what equipment will u be running? Welder(model?), compressor(how many HP), Electric heat?, AC?, water heater?, etc etc.

Wire is good for 90a and distance shoudnt be an issue. U will also need a #6 AL for EGC/ground(need 4 wires)...

Neutral bar in sub needs to be isolated/unbonded, u will need 2 ground rods as well...

I don't have a welder yet but want one, need at least 80 gal. compressor, so 5-10 hp? No water or ac unit. Want lights (8ft?), maybe pellet stove, grinder just your basic bare bones pole barn work area. Thanks, Mike

Also, would like a 4 post lift!

A 10HP comp is a huge load!

Unless u need that much air, i would stick with a 5 or 7.5hp one...

90a should suit u fine.
