Need Advice on feeding garage from house

I'm getting ready to build my 40x28 garage! I need some electrical advice.
I have a Cutler Hammer 200amp panel in the house we built in 1996. It has 2 single spaces open. I had a 100 amp CH sub-panel installed in a basement storage area 4 years ago when i finished off the basement with a drop ceiling, carpet, etc..The only thing in the sub-panel now is an outlet to power an above ground pool pump and 2 outlets on the pool deck. The sub panel is closer to the garage I am building than the main panel box so I think i'd like to feed the garage from the sub-panel. The grounds and neutral are separate buses in the existing sub panel.

I need advice on how to feed the garage and any specific recommendations. Of course I'll have everything inspected and I have a great shop I work with to get materials. I'm just a weekend warrior, no welding... no big amps being drawn in the new garage. Lights, basic power, no heat.

The garage is 2x6 stick built with attic trusses and a room overhead. Nothing planned for the room, just wanted to do attic truss for the future. I started a thread at http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=205257

I'd like to have the conduit come up inside the concrete block wall, through the pressure treated sill and up the wall cavity and have whatever I use as a box be flush with sheetrock. It is about an 80 lineal foot run (up, down, through the wall, etc) to from sub panel in basement storage area to new panel location in new garage.

Any advice you have on whether to go pack to the main panel or feed from existing sub panel as well as what to set in the new garage in terms of panel box would be appreciated.
Thanks!

What is the size of the breaker feeding the subpanel from the main panel? What size loads are on the subpanel now? You can feed a sub from a sub but you can't get more from the first sub than what you put into it.

I'd get a 100A main breaker panel for the garage and feed it with 2-2-2-4 Al Mobil Home Feeder in 1 1/2" or 2" PVC conduit from sub-panel to sub-panel and breaker it in the existing sub-panel using a 60A double pole breaker (because it's cheap). The #2 AL is good to 90A if needed in the future.

Here's a 100A main breaker Cutler Hammer CH panel.

When I had mine build they added another panel to the exterior wall so it connected directly to the lugs of the meter. They then ran a 100 amp ciruit from a breaker on that panel to the detached garage panel. I added another 20 amp GFCI circuit in the exterior panel for the landscape and pool lighting.

Seems to work pretty well.
