Yes, but be extra careful when taking the tension off the spring. Begin by placing a pair of vise grips on the shaft to retain tension on the cables before you release the tension on the spring. Get a piece of chalk and draw a straight line across the width of the spring. When you retension the spring the line will show you when you have brought it back to the original tension. Make sure the spring torsion bars you use to unwind the spring fit without any slop in the holes of the spring's winding cone. Don't stand in line with the bars when unwinding and rewinding the spring.
