I think I would trip on the floor x member about 50 times a day and impale myself on something horrible.

I'm not much for floor plate lifts. I've tripped too many times, dang near dropped a transmission due to the plate, spilled oil catch cans...... I'll never have one in my shop unless it's been given to me, then I'd probably put it outside as an inspection lift.

My buddy has a bendpak that style and I don't find the plate a trip hazzard. Hard to do ******'s on as the plate is right in the way of the ****** jack. Even using a rolling oil drain **** trying to drain a transfer case. If it's possible to cut out a trench in your floor to run the cables and hoses below level and keep the plate flush with the floor, then the major design flaw is fixed.
