Need advice on this light fixture

How do I tell what type of ballast this has. From what I read here on the forum, I do not want a commercial type ballast due to fm interference. This light is referred to as a "commercial" fixture so does that truly mean commercial including the balast. thanks for any help.

Click on the link for the spec sheet for the fixture you listed. The "MV" indicates an electronic multi volt ballast. A residential magnetic ballast is available. Fixtures with residential type ballasts are generally only stocked by home centers. Very few fluorescent fixtures are used in residential construction, thus the special order provision.

Very few lighting manufacturers stock anything but the most basic models. Everything is made to order. Visit you local supply house and ask for a quote on a 2 light T8 industrial, 120 volt. If you want 4 foot lamps, add the word tandem. That particular fixture is known as an industrial because it has a reflector. They are also available with uplight, or holes in the reflector, which is nice if they are being suspended and not surface mounted.

Very good, thanks for the info frankush, I had not seen the red spec link. I am considering 8 footers with mirror reflectors and will see what my local supplier can furnish.

The mirror reflector is going to cost dearly. Have them price it both ways, both with and without the mirror. It will most likely be a separate piece that fits over the top. It became a popular retrofit item when everybody started worrying about energy efficiency. I personally wouldn't bother with it, as I don't think it's a good bang for the buck. If you buy your lamps from the supply house, you may get a better number on the total. Prices on fixtures change constantly, so you really want the supplier to call the manufacturer for a quote.
