Hi. New to the forum. I'm looking for advice on 2 post lifts.

Due to limited ceiling height I am looking for a 2 post base plate lift for my home garage. The lift will probably be used twice a month. The heaviest vehicle that will be on the lift is a 2001 GMC Sierra extended cab 4x4. Curb weight on the truck is 5013.

Here is what I have looked at so far:

Eagle MTP-9F - $1995.00 installed.

Rotary Revolution RTP9- $2995.00 installed.

Forward BP-9 - $3738.31 installed

I realize I do not need a professional quality lift. However, I don't want to by something that is not safe.

The area in the garage where the lift will be installed has a large crack in it right where the posts will be. So, I'm going to have to have someone come in, cut out the old concrete and repour. That's another expense that I have no idea what it will cost.

If the Eagle lift will be safe, I'm leaning towards this lift.

Any and all advice is appreciated.

all 3 mentioned above are great lifts ive seen them all in commercial businesses used every day. def start with your slab as thats where your safety will begin. call the lift installers and see what they rec for your situation. or as always theres a 4 post which work just as well. good luck.

Me and 2 of my buddies rented a commercial jack hammer a concrete saw and bought a new blade and took about 3 hours to cut out the 2'x2' sections in my garage floor that were too thin for my 2 post lift install.

It took us another couple of hours to dig out the 14" deep foundation and mix and pour the 5000psi concrete.

The three of us did it in less than a day and spent about $500 on rental equipment for a day and materials.

Paying a professional would have probably cost three or four times that amount.

Did you use Sakrete?

If you're considering the RTP9, you should take a look at the Direct Lift Pro-9F. Same lift, but $1k cheaper and no ALI certification. I have one and I have no complaints. It is stout.

You can get a standard Rotary lift SPOA10 lowered to your ceiling height. That is what I did (my ceiling is 134"). I got mine for about $3500 installed. Check out Craigslist occasionally some shop will close and sell off their lifts. I much prefer the clear floor to the floor plate units

Have you checked into the MaxJax 2 post lift? They are made for low ceilings and are also portable if need be. I bought one about two months ago for $1800 shipped and hope to have my garage built in the next month so I can install it. If you haven't checked it out I would, the reviews have been good and they are great for the low ceilings for home garages...Just a thought..

One of my buddies has a max jack in his garage, it is a cool concept. I like how it is a semi permanent installation. You can leave it bolted to the ground or you can unbolt it and put it in the corner.

I have a couple of Rotary 9000 lb lifts in my garage. I picked these up five years ago from a service station supply dealer in Seattle. They were used (about five years old), $2000 each, installed.
