Need an 11mm hex bit socket not Snap On

Apologies. I think I'm completely WRONG. I forgot that this car shares its platform with the dodge and jeep. Kinda makes sense to use 11mm as guys without big sets of metric stuff can use 7/16. Europeans can use 11mm.

Also true that these caliper bolts are rarely standard bolts, so auto designers are free to specify whatever head size they want regardless of the industry standards.

I find that statement truly entertaining. You really think they care if we have to buy some new obscure tool or it even crosses their minds ? They don't care if it's some obscure very uncommon size that will cause problems to purchase.

"They" is me and I do care about tools and mechanics when I design something. But there are sometimes compelling reasons to drive the need for new tools. I have never, in 20 years designing parts, forced a mechanic to use a specialty tool for anything I've designed.

As I've written before, like other people in my industry (aerospace) we have Snap On catalogs on our desks, and our shop uses all Snap On tools and we design around those tools. Could be the case that stuff I designed required Snap On's swivels (for example) as opposed to somebody else's. I've never considered my customers who use Proto tools (e.g. USMC).

Buy a cheapie. If the insert fails, put an Apex in it.

The socket will be fine and the Apex will be a long-lasting consumable.

My SK torx sockets that broke the bit have Apex bits in them.
