Need an education on Blackhawk tools please.

My Grandfather used to own a pawn shop until he passed away 5 years ago. When he sold the shop he kept the tools to sell at flea markets, as a hobby. Unfortunatley he died before he did any of that. My grandmother had all this stuff in her garage for years and finally told me to haul it off.
When I found this board a few weeks ago, my outlook on certain brands was bleek. After reading a boatload of tool discussions about SK, Blackhawk, Thorsen, and a few others, I have a deeper respect for them. My dad and grandfather owned a repair shop and always bought Snap On. So I always thought that was the curve. I finally had time to go out and rummage through the boxes of tools and Misc. in the garage and this is what I found. The first pics are all Blackhawk and Thorsen. There are some others like Herbrand, and Cornwell too. I'd like to know more about Blackhawk since they constitute the majority. They all came from the big clear plastic bin that has all the sockets in it. This was my grandfathers medioker brand tools for sale at the pawn shop, whats left is Tiawan misc.

So here are my questions.
1. Who makes Blackhawk and where?
2. Are they warranteed? (replacement like craftsman)?
3. Where do you buy new Blackhawk tools.

I don't know much about blackhawk other than they are part of the stanley empire now. On another note that cornwell flexhead ratchet is really cool.

I did a search and found that they are sold in Graingers catalog.
They look to be close to the same price as CM. I fooled around with them and they feel heavy and look well made. Powder pressed for sure. I also found some Proto stuff that I know is good. It is sold by stanley and graingers as well. ALOT more expensive than CM and Blackhawk.

I see a couple of Plomb "Pebble Grain" combos. Unfortunately, some heathen put a bend in one of them...

Behind that Cornwell is the Blackhawk version of the much-maligned C-Man "tri-wing"; that definitely dates after the brand was acquired by Stanley.

You can find info on Blackhawk on alloy-artifacts.com web site. I believe they are a lower line of ProTo (still good quality) that was orginally sold in auto supply stores. If you have some 3/8 dr deep inch and metric for sale I am looking for some fill in.

I have no problem with US-made Blackhawk. I've picked up some US-made Blackhawk over the years and it's good stuff.

Nailed it. Older is better, older still is the best! Whatever you do, save the Plomb stuff, even the bent one!

There were no better tools available in the 20's-40's than Blackhawk. They were about as good as anything else out there up through the 60's. My grandfather had lots of Blackhawk tools from those decades that were stolen from my cousin's garage years after his death.

Older Blackhawk (USA made) is premium stuff as far as I'm concerned. The new Blackhawk stuff is imported and is probably on par with Craftsman, more or less. Almost all of the older USA made mechanics tools are gold in my eyes.

Old Blackhawk tools use to be found at the better pro auto parts stores they were fine tools and always available for infill tools.

Item # 3 Car Quest auto stores just sold out of blackhawk brand tools, you have to contact stanley-proto asm they are sleeping with all the older brand name tool companies/biger is better???
