Need an electric winch

I'm looking for an inexpensive electric winch with the highest speed possible. Most of them I see move at around 4-6 feet per minute. I'm looking for more like 15 feet per minute.

The point of all this is that I have to back my cars onto the lifts in my garage. The tracks are narrow and the cars barely fit on. I am normally alone and it's a good climb up the lip of the garage and up the lift ramp, so I have to make multiple runs at it and continuously get out to check my progress. During this time the garage gets full of exhaust. So I figure I could pull the car onto the lift with a winch, saving the effort and exhaust problem. Then I could stand next to the car and steer it on.

Any suggestions?

Why does it have to be fast? With a light load, many winches will run a little faster than their speed at rated load.

It's funny you should post this...just got a Superwinch S5000 shipped from Summit today for my trailer. There are cheaper winches out there that will pull a car up on a trailer, but this one had good speed and strength, plus a 30-foot remote so I can walk the car up the whole length.

I just don't want to stand there for three to five minutes to move the car 15 feet. I'd rather do it in 60 seconds.

I hadn't thought of looking for overhead hoists. It would be impractical to mount it in my garage because of the high ceilings, especially because I would then have to buy one for each lift. But I wonder if it would work sideways?

Those cheepo HF units will work in just about any position....We use them in over 101 non approved situations....:shocking:

I'd rather find something non-HF but if I can't find anything else, I'll swallow my pride and give some money to the far east.

I understand Steve....the only reason we use them (as stated in another thread) they get abused ..left out in the rain ...and just beat to hell ..then we toss them .......They are so cheap that we don't have to care about them....

FWIW I got the Superwinch S5000 bolted to the trailer/mounting plate on the trailer today. I had to pull about 35' of cable out of it (50' x 1/4" line) in order to get clearance to the mounting bolt holes. I hooked it to the battery to wind it back in. It did it much faster than I expected. I didn't time it, but I'd bet it was under 2 mintues. Line speed was pretty fast with no load.

To pull a car into your garage should take less than 35'. Check out Warn's Works 110v winch line. I bet you'd be pleased with it once installed.
