Need an extended crowsfoot or torque adapter

For torquing stuff that is impossible to get the torque wrench in position. For example, torquing driveshaft nuts that are too close to the trans to get a torque wrench in there and inset enough on the driveshaft that a normal crowsfoot might not reach it.

Besides the normal crowsfoot wrenches, do they make an extended version for even greater reach?

Are you sure you are needing a crows-foot wrench?

Because extending one is done simply by using an extension :headscrat Unless actually need more of an OFFSET in the crows foot??

BTW, just in case there is some sort of breakdown in communication, this is a crows foot wrench :)

Yea, I need more offset. Not much, but more than the typical pieces I've seen. I will check out the truck brands and see what I find. Thanks.

Mac doesn't even make metric ones for some reason.

I should be able to use an 3/8" extension on the normal crowsfoot wrench, right? For example, crowsfoot + 3/8" extension + torque wrench.

If you really need one and can't find the right size, you may be able to switch the fasteners to some with the same threads but with a hex size that fits the wrench.

Of course if the tool is placed on the torque wrench so that it extends to either side, exactly 90 degrees to the torque wrench, then the offset has no effect on the torque, if it extends either away from or toward the torque wrench any at all from the 90 degree point then you have to do the calculations.

Bumping a really old thread cause I still need these. I need the torque extender type. Crowsfeet just ain't cutting it.
In particular, 17mm and 10mm.

If you still cant find one, I would simpy make one.

An old wrench and an old socket (for the drive end).

Cut the wrench and sock to size, and weld.


I have made severa of these over years.


I would be kinda lost with out a mill-lathe-tig welder:)

Not sure I would have any candidates that are 0 offset.
And I have no mill-lathe-tig welder.

Not having a "0" offset is no big deal. Just cut that end as well, and weld it.


If you dont have the capability, possibly some one close?


If you run out of options, let me know and I coud do it for you.


I build "odd" stuff like this for people all the time.

Stahlwille offer a 3/8" drive 10mm (Code 447.10 / 02181010) 50.8mm long (centre to centre). They dont make a 16mm - only a 5/8" (15.875mm). AF (Maybe worth double checking, if your not sure of size). Also available in Spline.

The Moose Solution:

10mm fasteners don't require that much torque, since they're small. So here's the solution to your problem finding a long enough torque adapter:

I've just clamped this 10mm bolt in my vice for example's sake. You're going to need a 10mm wrench too. And a step-down if you don't have a 3/8" torque wrench.

Put wrench on nut/bolt. Using a piece of blue shop tissue paper or something could help hold it in place.

Put 3/8" drive on torque wrench or step-down in the open end of the wrench. This works because 3/8" is ~10mm, works fine, works great in a bind. Don't worry about it slipping; it shouldn't, and you're not going to be putting much torque down anyway.

Torque away! Having the wrench at 90 degrees to the torque wrench should eliminate the need to recalculate torque.

Does anyone know where I can find one of those extensions that has a 3/8 square drive hole on both sides??
