Need an idea

Gentleman this site has some of the greatest garage idea's i have ever seen that said after searching for 25 minutes on the search feature of this site i could use a couple

i use about 40-60 cutoff wheels a week i could really use a good idea on storage for them the probelm i have if i put them in a drawer in the box they get bent chipped broken. leave them out they disappear and i hate walking to my truck every time i chew one up idea's

problem too paper towels any ideas for storing overstock

and 3 best idea to clean up non ferrous (copper brass aluminum) shavings

let's see what ya got

When I was wrenching for a living, I kept my cutoff wheels in a Tupperware container. I'm not sure food wise what it was originally intended to hold

I keep my 14" cut offs in a wooden case I made with thin paperboard seperators.
no idea about paper towls
at work we use a rake for the copper shavings

Make a hanging bracket using a pipe to fit inside the center hole. Drill a hole on the end of the pipe for a padlock. You might want to but something between each wheel. You might want to use a smaller pipe and put a rubber hose on it.

Keep looking at metal or plastic food jars for those wheels you're bound to find one that fits. Maybe a tennis ball container or something like it.

Paper towels? I keep 'em in the plasic wrap and just remove one at a time from a small hole.

If'n you can't find a brass magnet (or alum) just use shop val that is dry and clean. You can get small cheap vacs real easy now. I use a one gallon one for small jobs and it cleans up quick.

sorry lemme clarify the reason i am pick ip the shavings /particles is for recycling shopvac destroys that by mixxing it all together

as far as paper towells i actaully threw enough sparks at said open plastic to cause a small fire recently thus the ?

What you should do is find a PVC pipe that fits the 4 1/2 size you need (Most likely one of the black sewage ones) then glue a cap to one end, Then you could drill a hole in the glued on cap and run a threaded rod with some lock bolts on the cap to secure it up. Then simply stack your cutoff wheels on the threaded rod within the pipe (That should keep them from getting all chipped up). Then finally get another cap to cover the open end (Obviously dont glue it down), then drill a hole in it to feed the last bit a threaded rod through, finally get a wingnut to hold the unglued cap on the other end with the threaded rod, it will suspend the cutoff wheels in there and not damage them, even under impact. Get what I'm saying? Tell me to shut up if my idea sounds worthless, I just made it up....

You could even make cardboard separators if your super worried about chipping...

5" PVC pipe, epoxy a dowel rod to a cap (or make a plug out of plywood), glue the cap on the pipe, glue a screw cap to the other end. Won't fit in your tool box, but put an eye bolt in the screw cap end and padlock it to some chain. Or get a 90 degree padlock hasp. One end on the screw cap and one on the side, run some chain through it before locking.

I wondered if you were recycling the non ferrous shavings. That's money on the ground if not picked up.

Can you make your cuts over a 5 gallon bucket for each material ?

HELL NO alot of where we go we are cutting 16' lengths or greater for scrap 5 gallon just doesn't work

You might try the 25 pack of blank CD's - they are right at 2" tall

Make own lock box with wood.

Basically box with center rod. kinda like toilet paper holder, but inside box.

That way, even you drop or hit the box, disc does not get damaged.

How about some thin wall steel tubing with a ID of 4.5". Split it into two half circles, weld it back together using a piano hinge on one side, and a locking mechanisim of your choice on the other. Weld round discs of plate steel on the "bottom" half, and enjoy?

Hope that makes sense. The length of the whole deal would be whatever you like.

Use larger ID tubing, and you could even felt line it.
