Color the back of the piece of paper with a carbon pencil covering the area of the pattern.(not sure if a regular pencil will work, never tried it.)

Flip it back over, carbon side down, trace the pattern with a regular pencil or pen.

Pattern will transfer onto wood.

Glue the paper to the wood then cut the wood. If it came out of a printer once it can do it a second time too if needed.

Use carbon paper. Put it under the original and trace it with a pen or pencil. It will draw it on the wood for you.

Run it through a copy machine that uses toner. It will then act as a heat transfer pattern, but it will be in reverse. Another method is tape it to the wood and use a sharp pick to lightly punch a line of close holes around the perimeter of the pattern to transfer to the wood for connect the dots for cutting.

If it's soft wood, what about laying the paper on the wood and use a auto center punch . Then connect the dots.

Spray adhesive, I just swipe it from the wife's craft box. There's directions, spray and stick and its permanent, spray wait and stick and the paper will peel off afterwards.
Also available in the craft section of Walmart or target or any hobby shop.

When faced with that problem, I glue the pattern to a piece of lighter cardboard such as a coke box, then cut it out. You now have something firm enough to trace around and you also have something for another day.

I often use this method for images printed from the internet. It then goes into my pattern box.
