I really like the PBSwiss BitBox (#970) and their BitBlocks (#990).

Each BitBox holds five BitBlocks and each BitBlock holds ten 1/4" hex bits. A fully loaded box holds up to 50 bits.

The BitBlocks are easy to remove and fit in your pocket. The individual bits are easy to remove and yet they won't fall out. The markings on the bits are readable in the BitBlock.

It looks similar, but one is alloy steel (sears) and the other is S2 (sunex). For the money, I would rather have the S2 steel.

I have the freezone holder that I mount to the wall over my workbench. Excellent.

For portable, I have a Mac set (upgraded with Snap-on screwdriver) that has a mini-ratchet that is the best I think is made. The hybrid set is my go-to for screwdrivers, I use it almost exclusively:

I have two of those. Awesome. I upgraded the ratchet after losing that little U shaped thing to hold the bit. Now it's magnetic. I use this every single day at work.

So for those of you that have the freezone holders, are they tight fitting or just enough to hold but not enough to fight you during removal? I have several areas of these damn things and I am thinking about upgrading my holders again. I do have some nice smaller ones, but I like the large grid idea, it lets you see things easier, at least that is the way I feel. I all ready have several kits that I use, but it would be nice to have a complete drawer with all my drivers and bits.

Nice catch. At a glance they looked so similar I didn't notice that.

Perhaps it's just me but I tend to prefer S2 bits for manual screwdriver handles but the cr-v bits for power tools. They both are hard enough to get the job done but if/when I get overly aggressive with a bit in an impact/drill/driver I want to bit to strip out, not the screw. The bits are consumables to me, use'em and toss them as soon as they are less than perfect, but a stripped screw can be a frickin tragedy. I've had that happen way too many times. That's why all the 'impact ready' S2 screwdriver bits I have I now only keep with my ratcheting screwdriver handles and the $20 Craftsman sets of cr-v bits are what I use with my cordless 1/4" impact bit driver. I know that's bassackwards but that's what I've been doing for quite a while now and it's worked well for me so far. I still rarely strip out a bit but when I have it's just been it and not the screw.

I want to try out a set of those ammo grids like you have for bit storage. Is this the right size set like you have?

All of my "short" bits (<1.5") are stored in the "block" they came with or inside the screw driver handle they came with.

Longer bits (2", 4", 6") are stored in zip lock bags. These are ALL impact rated. Phillips, Robertson and a few Torx. Wiha are great but $$$ !

I think the Hazet BitE Box is the best, but I'm still trying to source one. Of what's availiable, I'd have to vote the PBSwiss 10 bit holder.

As cheesey as it sounds, I use the DEWALT bit holders. If found empty at pawn shops I can get them for next to nothing, they hold bits well, and are configurable with the removeable plastic clips.

I had picked up several of the Milwaukee shockwave sets and pretty much put all the bit holders into one. The cases are modular. You could fit even more if you pick up the discontinued non impact sets and use those bit holders instead.

So these are now down to $3.74 from an alleged previous price of $7.48. As quoted above I apparently paid ~$10 in Aug '15 and I still really like it. It's been vertically on the side of my KRL ever since, so the magnet is reasonably strong (it's never fallen off on me or anything).

At $3.74 it's almost a no-brainer if you need a way to organize your 1/4" hex bits. I grabbed a second one yesterday. They're claiming this is an NLP (new lower price) but that's often HD code for temporary sale or upcoming clearance (hard to say).

...and apparently clearance. My store put 18 boxes w 6 units in ea box in clearance. I still maintain these are cool; if you're looking for a way to store your 1/4" hex bits you might try one at sub-$4 before they're gone
