Need big wrenches

Unless you are going to use them frequently, Giant-size wrench needs are very well served by imports such as sold by HF and Northern Tool.

Name brand wrenches (Mac/SnapOn/Proto/SK/Etc/Etc/Etc) get VERY expensive, in the very large sizes.

You might want to get a set of imports and then if there are 2-3 particular wrench sizes that you reach for a lot more often than any others (There most certainly will be), then, you can choose to upgrade those to premium quality, as you go.

Getting truck wrenches is out of the question. I love snap-on just as much as the other guy but there is no way im paying for an 1 7/8 snap on wrench :shock: i will be using them ALOT but even the imported stuff ive seen in action holds up just fine.
@joegravelle i did but the only set i could find is a 'jumbo' set that goes up to 1 1/4 and then a 'JUMBO' set that is a 4 or 6 pc set that has the common sizes (1 1/2 1 3/4 etc.) im looking for more of an all in one set that has your 1 7/16, 1 13/16, etc. for hydraulic fittings.

Look on Epstein. They have big sk in the closeout section. I own a couple big sk and they make imports look like toys.

Great site! Are these just 'for the moment' sales or is this kinda stuff gonna be on there for a awhile? My thinking was maybe having a cheap set to see what i use the most and then upgrade from there...thanks for the responses so far!

Definitely Northern Tool. Better quality wrenches than HF in my opinion and still dirt cheap.

Get them from Northern Tool. My Craftsman wrenches went up to 1-5/8" and 32mm. I bought the Northern inch set up to 2" and the loose metrics up to 50MM and had it delivered for under $180.

They are pretty good quality. I can not justify paying truck prices that will cost me a few grand for tools I may use a handful of times the rest of my life.

I like Gearwrench. Their singles go up to the sizes you listed. You get a quality open end and a ratcheting box...best of both worlds!

I've got Snap-on up to 2". Yeah, that's great and all but a economy set from a retailer that has a good warranty/return policy would certainly be a less costly option. The fact is, big wrenches are not long enough to really ever be in danger of spreading an open end or breaking so strength isn't much of an issue. The imports are usually fine, but one of the reasons I replaced my import set with the Snappy's is fitment. The cheapie set I had were not accurate. Also, the chrome just plain sucked. I do not care for peeling chrome. <---- That's why I say get a set from a good retailer that will stand behind them.

are you looking for an entire set or just a few sizes? if just a few sizes between 1" and 2", go to your local Pepboys. They are doing 50% off all their Alltrade/Powerbuilt tools... I picked up a 1-1/8" combo wrench for $5... the same at Lowes/Kobalt was like $20. A lot of the really large sizes don't sell much so they were marked down pretty low... lower than the more commonly used sizes.

I have some big protos and williams for sale, usa quility at a good price. Let me know if you are interested. If you are not in a big hurry, over time I am sure you could put an usa set together for a reasonable price. Sure you only use wonce in a while, but do you want a china 1 breaking on you while you are pulling as hard as you can up on a machine? Think of you hospital bill and lost wages. Imports spread apart, rounging off the nuts, bolts too.
