We had some concrete flat work done that had to **** up to stone columns that are veneered with cultured stone. Behind the stone are many layers. Starting with the studs, sheathing, Tyvek, some kind of black fabric, lathe with scratch coat and finally the stone. Expansion joint material was used extensively so that the concrete ends up next to the stone but not under it. This way if anything heaves, the stone work won't get jacked up.

Since the stone is not flat, there are gaps where the expansion joint material butts up against it. This needs to be caulked with something that will provide a good waterproof barrier and prevent water from seeping into these areas and freezing and thawing and creating issues for us. House is still under warranty from the builder so I want to make sure that everything is nice and tight.

What is the best product to use for this type of application?

Thanks for the help.

I use any of the professional grade polyurethane caulks that are available in your area. Not too bad to work with as long as you keep your finger or tools wet. I use mineral spirits. The masonry supply house I go to always has about a dozen different colors in stock. It can take a day or two to firm up.

+1 for Sikaflex. I used it to seal between my concrete patio and house as well as the control joints in my garage. No complaints.

Any specific Sikaflex caulk recommendation? Some are for vertical applications and some are self leveling. It can't be too runny since some of the areas that need sealing are not level.

Thanks

The np1 is what we use here as well. At least a dozen colors if not more. That Amazon price is pretty high (even without shipping) compared to what I pay from a local supplier who isn't known for being cheap on most things so it might be worth a little searching.

I got a case of Tan last fall at our local supplier and payed 4.64 here plus tax and that wasn't self leveling, that is usually a little higher priced. I was just trying to get the OP an idea of what will work for his project. Why did I choose Amazon? I haven't got a clue. I did pick up a case of gray SL at our local Menards Lumber last week of Loctite brand concrete caulk and I believe it was 5.88 for 10 oz tube or some where in that price range. Your right shop around. Never used Loctite brand before so I can't say if it will hold up for you or not. It is a polyurethane just like sonneborn.
