As the title indicates, I plan on building a 28x32 detached garage. I'm having issues with the bids I've been getting. Four bids came in from $6,000 to $10,250. That is a pretty big spread. The location is flat no stumps and the trucks can drive right up to the work area. The soil is all sand, one bid stated that they would scrape the area and add 22 tons more sand to level. I plan on putting in in-floor heat that either I can install or the contractor, they have bid it both ways.

It just seems excessive to me, what are you guys paying??

Anyway, if someone knows a good contractor in the Forest Lake Mn area I would appreciate it.

Thx,

Mike

Where are the guys coming from? It seems like anything in Washington county comes with an inflated price. Sometimes I think contractors charge extra just to do work there.

How thick are you needing it poured? Is a permit required? The prices do seem to be all over the place when I last checked in to it. But I'm across the border and it's always cheaper.

I would take a good look at the guy says it needs 22 yards. He may be giving value added advice vs just agreeing with you. I know builders "agree" with every idea the customer has so as to not make waves and make the sale, lots of disappointed customers.

Dragfluid,
I called your guy and left a message.

Markfothebeast,
The highest price is from the guy that lives the closest to me. I am in eastern Anoka Cty.

Sberry,

Not sure what you mean by this. you mention "Agreeing with me" agreeing with me on what?? What idea do you think I could have possibly had to make the builder say this?

I don't know, its just a common issue that happens all the time. Is there a reason the guy wanted to fill the area? Is it going to leave the elevation too low without it?

Mike call Cornerstone Custom Construction 763-754-3939.

They do awesome flat work, Basements, ICF, Foundations...you name it.

They did a 358 yard pour for me last fall. They did an awesome job. Best crew I have had on my property yet. Priced right and quality work.

Here is my pour:

DragFluid, Brad will be out tomorrow night to look at the site.

4 FN 27, thanks for the referral, I'll call them today.

ARD, this will be a floating slab with 12"x12" thickened edges. Nothing special. the site is flat with no trees or stumps to worry about and easy access.
I have a cemstone plant less than 5 miles up the road.
I'm almost to the point of doing it myself, will need to find a finisher though.
