I just finished pouring my 26X34 concrete slab last Fri. It is a 3500 psi hard troweled finish with 1/2" rebar on 2x2 grid with radiant heat tubing over 1-1/2 EPS.
I kept it covered with polyethylene tarp and allowed the moisture to go out slowly. I am now getting ready to frame up the walls and would like to somewhat protect it from all the dirt and virginia red mud stains before I begin.
This garage floor will be used hard. It is not to display show cars or sit around and drink beer on fancy stools like the guys in the TV shows. It is a working man's garage. I will be welding, hammering, dropping things, rolling steel wheels across it, degreasing parts using petroleum based solvents and engine cleaner, etc. and I know that there isn't a paint or finish in the world that will stand up to my abuse. As such I am interested in a penetrating stain, sealer densifier that will provide some long term protection without a lot of maintenance besides sweeping, scraping and wet mopping.
I know there are a lot of sales folks out there and your input is welcome but I am really looking for some first hand testimonials from folks that work like I do.
I am particularly interested in any experience with CreteDefender and Legacy Industrials HD-410. I think the Burnt Sienna color would help hide the red dirt around here.
I am just as happy to hear what not to use as well if you have tried something that didn't work.
Other considerations are: Must be able to apply it in cold weather, needs to hold up to petroleum based spills and a variety of solvents. Slip resistance is nice but need to be able to mop up and clean easy.
