What type of (1/2") connector should I use to secure 12/3 SJO cord to a metal box? Tried a squeeze connector and it didn't work, too loose.

Strain Relief Cord Connector. They come in different sizes to fit the cord.

Nafter.....is this for a permanent installation. Any SO cord is not meant for that...

I guess you could say it's permanent. My Equipto workbench has knockouts in each of the legs for a duplex outlet. I installed the outlets using romex cable that run into a metal junction box which is mounted to the bench. The SJO cord with a 20a plug on the other end is simply a way to feed power to the outlets. It allows my bench to be mobile. I can now put it anywhere in my garage within 10' of a receptacle. And I can easily unplug it from the wall to cut power to the bench.

Thanks for the answer! I got one last night from Lowes. It was the last 3/4" .500".625" connector left. Works great.
