I used the Ryobi cordless die grinder the other day with the double-cut Astro burrs. They all worked really well. I only did one inside corner, but it cut well once I figured out which speed to use. I'll try and report back when I use it for a larger, longer project that requires more grinding.

A new player has entered the game. Looks like a ripoff of the Milwaukee unit. I’m please with the M12 unit, it has done everything I’ve asked. I did buy a smaller 1/8” collet so I can use dremel type accessories, much more satisfy than the M12 dremel.

I have the Ryobi, it's very powerful but also big, and I find myself using the $50 Hyper Tough 12v from Wal-Mart these days. I've never come across a situation where its power was inadequate, and I've actually been pleasantly surprised by the 12v Hyper Tough tools overall, although I don't use them professionally.

Honestly the Hyper Tough 12 volt one isn’t half bad. I got stuck back in the winter doing a field repair on a piece of farm equipment where a normal grinder wouldn’t fit. I’ve not got a big enough operation to warrant an engine drive compressor. And I was miles from the nearest outlet. I also didn’t want to spend Milwaukee money on a tool that I might never need again. So a swung by Walmart got the grinder and a couple batteries and got change back from $100. I’ve since picked up the 3/8” Hyper Tough ratchet and for what it is I really like it

Die grinder is really a job for air or plug in electric. I have all three types but the battery was never up to the task and air got shoved aside very quickly when I found out plug in could do what was needed. I have one identical to the pawn shop job shown earlier plus a Makita that showed up at a garage sale. Both are very capable but the Makita overheats after a while.

I was avoiding Walmart and another battery platform. These look very similar! Hmmmm...

I was surprised HF didn't have one. It's about time they came out with one.

They do have a Bauer cordless flextool, $35 and they have 5ah and 8ah batteries available which might give it some decent power.

I can't post a direct link but it is under their rotary tools.

I haven't used one but might be a fairly cheap option.

The reviews have been pretty solid. A bit less power than the M12, but for the price/warranty/etc. seems decent. I have the Milwaukee and been very happy with it. If I ever decide to add a second battery platform, it will probably be for Hercules so I an add stuff I won't use a ton like the portable band saw/etc. at a decent price.
