I just got a 14,000 to 26,000 BYU vent less heater. (used) Fireplace type. We had a elec. 1500. watt (fire place type) and we found it a lot cheaper to use it most of the time rather than kicking on our furnace. But during real cold weather it just wasn't large enough. I understand that a 1500 watt heater is about 5,000 BTU. I bought the smallest gas heater I could find (wanted a fireplace type with the logs) It heats really well at the lowest setting and doesn't have to run vey long before it gets warm enough and thermostat kicks it off. The problem I am having is that the house gets too cold before it will kick back on . I don't want to screw with the control until I get some advice. I have no reason to think there is anything wrong with the control. What should be the temp span before kicking back on?. I really don't know of any mfg. that makes one say 8,000 to 15,000 btu. Next question, could the jet be replaced with a smaller one?
