Still in the middle of a sizable renovation but the garage(s) are wrapping up. Both garages are attached to the house. One garage was existing with a new garage attached to it. The old garage was poured in 2001 and is 26’x26’. The new garage floor is about 2 months old and is 23’x28’. So total about 1320 sq ft. I actually really like the look of a polished concrete so I’m leaning toward just doing clear polyurea. I really dislike flaked floors. Is it advised to add a non skid agent? Do I need a topcoat? Should I grind the new garage as well as the old one? Is the clear polyurea a good idea? Should I be looking at other products that would be better? Thanks.

Is it advised to add a non skid agent? Yes, I like about 1/2 cup of tabular alumina per gallon of clear in the final coat
Do I need a topcoat? One coat of clear is good for residential use. Two coats for shop use. Same product all the way through.
Should I grind the new garage as well as the old one? You can etch or grind but you will need to do both. Concrete must be prepped. Remember whatever your concrete looks like is what it will look like and it will be accentuated
Is clear polyurea a good idea? YES
Should I be looking at other products that would be better? Our polyurea systems use the same product throughout. I love the look of clear polyurea over concrete. If you have imperfections to hide, a tinted and flaked system does that better. imperfections are part of the appeal and character of a clear system
