I never paid a lot of attention to HF wrenches, (since I only have two small sets, that wowrk fine), but now that I need something else, noticed the don't really carry 6pt box end wrenches, same a a lot of other local places.

Having to fight the stuck 15mm bolts, that hold the Silverado front bearings and it's hard to get a socket on, so I'd like to get a good set of metric 6pts, as the ancient 12pt thorsen, is no longer getting the job done.

Does Lowes even carry 6pt Cman wrenches?

Kind of a tangent, but what is hard about getting a socket on the hub bolt? Socket too long? Would shallow sockets give you enough clearance?

Otherwise I’m not much help. My only 6 point combo wrenches are USA CM RP from about the time they started sourcing from China. I’m not terribly impressed by them.

I've got Gearwrench 6pt combos, they're ok. Domestic made wrenches would likely fit a bit better overall.

FWIW,
I use a 3/8 drive 6pt low profile socket (Matco) with a wobble extension (usually 3") to get the hub bolts off. I remove the axle nut and push the axle as far in as it'll go turning the knuckle as needed. The wobble extension is mainly needed for the bolt above the axle.

Maybe, but my HF short impact set, does not have 15mm.:headscrat I have a regular snap on 3/8 drive, but one broke the last time I used one on a tough frozen bolt. even moving the shaft back it's hard to get a straight shot at the bolts, with a socket.

The top bolt has the shock mount bolt right in front of it, so there is not much clearance for much of anything.

The truck has 285k miles on that bearing, so with rust they are pretty tight."

I watched a video, where they used a wrench with a "cheater wrench" on it but I might have to get out the torch.

This is what you want.

I hadn't seen that you wanted a set. I ahve the long panel and short SK I hate the short. I always go with the long panel. I might need the normal length some time in the future for fitment, but I also have stubby...

I will consider a set, as I've always liked six point sockets better so with wrenches I'll have some of both

Thanks

If you are missing a 15 impact that is a good place to start. 15 is pretty substantial, rather rare it needs a 6 but,,, having a modest set of them is a decent addition to a good tool set.
I have a set up to 3/4 sae Snaps and while I don't use them a lot anymore they have been a good investment. I used the 3/4 a while back on a suspension part on an atv of all things on some **** nut, was just the right tool. I have made it this far without them in metric. Have them in sockets though.
